Hack Club

Build a
mini project.

You ship a website that's under 512KB,
we ship you a custom Hack Club patch.

Then, ship for another challenge to earn more amazing prizes, like a Nintendo Game Boy!

Start with the web.
Then choose more.

Make a tiny website to get familiar with the challenge.

Ship a website where every page's size is under 512 KB.

  • Every page can only transfer 512 KB on load
  • You can use Cloudflare Radar or your browser's devtools to check

Try avoiding raster (.png) images in favor of vector (.svg) images instead. Large font imports can take up anywhere from 50MB to 500MB, and so can JavaScript bundles!

What is Hack Club?

Hack Club is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization (really, it's the people), and we've run a bunch of events like this in the past. For example, we ran a 180-person hardware hackathon at GitHub HQ, and a seven-day game jam in Shanghai, China.

Can I submit to this event and another Hack Club program?Sorry, nope! "Double-dipping" is not allowed. If you make a project for this event, you can only submit it here, unless another program specifically states otherwise.
How do I measure my website? You can use either Cloudflare Radar, or the network tab inside your browser's Devtools. You'll be looking for "Data Transferred".
